The Library Headquarters' Teen Advisory Board (TAB) is collaborating with Monmouth Countys Foster and Adoptive Children's Services to collect new, unused school supplies, so that foster and adoptive children in the county will be able to return to school with new supplies.

'Check It Out,' the Warren Township Library has its own TV show

Starting on Sept. 1, Warren Library’s own TV show called “Check It Out!” will begin airing daily at 2 p.m. and 9 p.m. on Cablevision channel 15 and Verizon channel 44.

This series of programs starring Warren’s reference librarians will highlight different library topics of interest to the community.

Book meets dog: Children lose their fear of reading when canines make up their audience

Three dogs sat patiently at the Morris County Library recently and listened as 20 children took turns reading them stories.

While it was an odd sight, the session was designed to help reluctant readers.

“This really helps the kids,” said Princess Thomas, supervising librarian for the children’s library. “I see them come in, they can’t read or are afraid of the dogs and after this, they’re not afraid. Some can’t read enough after this program. They develop confidence to read aloud.”
