
Free digital eBooks and audiobooks
Hundreds of Digital eBooks and audiobooks are now available for many NJ residents!
eLi
braryNJ.com (formerly ListenNJ), is available to residents throughout Central New Jersey . To find out whether your library participates, please contact your local library or consult the eLibraryNJ website.
To download a free audiobook, you will need a valid library card and internet access. The first time you borrow materials at eLibraryNJ.com, instructions will be provided about downloading the free required software.
Downloads are available for your personal PC, laptop, or PDA. MP3 audiobooks can be transferred to a wide range of devices including the iPod®, iPhone™, and the iPad® (requires a download of the OverDrive® Media Console™ app for the iPad®). Some can even be burned to a CD. Audiobooks and eBooks may have a waiting list.
eBooks can be read on a PC or Mac® using free reader software called Adobe® Digital Editions. eBooks from this site can also be transferred to popular e-reading devices like the Sony® Reader, Barnes & Noble nook™, Amazon Kindle, and the iPad® (requires a download of the OverDrive® Media Console™ app for the iPad®). South Jersey Audiobook and eBook Download Center
A similar service, South Jersey Audiobook and eBook Download Center, is available to residents who reside in southern New Jersey. Check here for a list of participating libraries.
To get started, consult the guided tour. A variety of devices are supported, including the the Amazon® Kindle. You can browse the collection from home at any time of the day or night and check out up to 8 selections at a time.
Northern New Jersey residents can download free audiobooks and eBooks from DigitalLibraryNJ. Many libraries participate and you can take this tour to get started.
A number of digital devices are supported; check the help page for information about your device. Using your library card, you can request titles and download them to your device.
There may, however, be a waiting list for popular titles. To find eBooks that are currently available, used the advanced search and limit to items that are available.
If you need help with your reader or require assistance downloading titles, please don't hesitate to call your local library. Some libraries also offer classes on how to use an e-reader.
